Weekly Iraq Protest

Every Friday from 3:45-4:45 there is a war protest on the corner of Indian Hill and Arrow highway in Claremont.

Toward a Bike-Friendly Claremont

Work together for a more bike friendly Claremont! Join Claremont Critical mass every 1st Friday of the month at 6:30 pm for a ride around town. The group meets in the parking lot at Memorial Park, located in Claremont at Indian Hill and 8th. Costumes encouraged, spandex optional.

Tattoos and Body Art

More than 400 top tattoo and body artists from across the nation will be at the Pomona Fairplex for the three-day Tattoo and Body Art exposition. The exposition will be open on Friday July 18th from 2 – 11pm, on Saturday July 19th from 11am – 11pm, and on Sunday July 20th from 11am – 8pm. Admission is $22 for one day or $45 for a three-day pass; the Fairplex is located at 1101 West McKinley Avenue in Pomona. Menu for the Future

Discuss and explore food systems and their impact on culture, society and ecological systems; gain insight into agricultural and individual practices that promote personal and ecological well-being; consider ways to create and support sustainable food systems. The Menu for the Future discussion group meets Tuesday evenings at 6 in the Thoreau Bookshop, located at 544 West 1st Street, Claremont. Claremont Farmer's Market

Sundays in Claremont from 8 am - 1 pm enjoy great veggies, fruits, flowers, and arts at the Claremont Farmer’s Market, sponsored by the Claremont Forum. Wander 2nd street between Yale and Indian Hill avenues in Claremont and enjoy the fellowship and the sights, sounds and smells of freshness! Walk and Roll for Casa Colina

Families are invited to participate in a free event entitled “Walk & Roll for Casa’s Kids” on Saturday, June 28th from 9 to 11:30 am at Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation: Children’s Services, located at 255 East Bonita Avenue (at Gary) in Pomona. The event raises money to support rehabilitation services for children from the community with acquired or developmental disabilities. This free family event will feature a Walk & Roll Parade at 10am, games and prizes, music and entertainment, a bounce house, a petting zoo, vendors and snacks. Roaring Twenties @ the Homestead Museum

Calling all flappers and sheiks! Dig out your glad rags and come down to the Homestead Museum on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th for Ticket to the Twenties: a two-day festival celebrating the Roaring Twenties. Music, silent films, dance, and a fashion show are just the beginning of this event! 1920’s dress is encouraged and prohibition is strictly enforced. The Homestead Museum is located at 15415 East Don Julian Road in the City of Industry; the event is open from 4 until 8 pm on both days. Family Days at the Packing House

The third Sunday of every month from 11am to 5pm is Family Day at the Claremont Museum of Art. Inspire creativity in a child or create art with your family! The museum provides the materials and its volunteers assist in getting you started, but the finished masterpiece is up to you. Family Day is free with museum admission. Staff Selects

First Street Gallery Art Center is proud to present the annual group exhibition Staff Selects from July 11th until August 2nd. This show explores the exchange that occurs within the student/instructor relationship and provides the opportunity to view works by artists with a variety of experiences as they engage in the creative process together. Staff Selects will feature a range of media including sculpture, writing, photography, drawing, painting and needlework. Future of Nations

18th Street Arts Center turns its gallery yet again to a myriad of work that is profound, inspiring, active, and charged with social implications with its show “Citizen Artists Making Emphatic Arguments.” The exhibition, which opens July 12th and continues through September 13th, forms the third installment of “Future of Nations,” 18th Street’s yearlong examination of issues related to the 2008 presidential campaign. Between July 9th and the 21st, Outfest: The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival returns for its 26th year. Outfest is the leading organization showcasing, nurturing, and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender film images and artistry. For 26 years Outfest has led the charge in spotlighting emerging talent, creating a community between filmmakers and audiences and offering a world-class forum for stories that reflect and often transform LGBT lives. Vexing: Female Voices from East LA Punk

The Claremont Museum of Art is pleased to present Vexing: Female Voices from East LA Punk now until August 31st. Vexing is an historical investigation of the women who were at the forefront of a movement in music, art, culture and politics. This exhibition documents a vital moment of artistic and musical interchange in Los Angeles, with women staking out a position within punk rock, East LA and the downtown art scene. Exhibited are photography, video, audio, painting, installations, writing, and performance arts. The museum is located at the Packing House at 536 West First Street in Claremont.
