E-waste removal in San Dimas
The city of San Dimas and its chamber of commerce are working to keep our environment clean by hosting electronic waste (or E-waste) collections on Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th. From 9am to 4pm, at the San Dimas High School parking lot on 800 West Covina Boulevard, and at the San Dimas Train Depot on 210 West Bonita Avenue, residents and businesses can properly dispose of unwanted electronic products. Dump the Pump Day with Foothill Transit
With high gas prices on everyone’s mind, Foothill Transit is joining other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the third annual Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 19th. Foothill Transit is issuing free ride coupons on their website. Interested riders fill out a brief survey and then print out the one-day coupon which they show to their Foothill Transit bus driver to receive free rides all day on June 19th. Baseball's Changes
The Baseball Reliquary exhibition, The Times They Were A-Changin’: Baseball in the Age of Aquarius, at the Pomona Public Library spotlights the impact that the issues of free speech, racial unrest, economic grievance, and player unionization had on baseball between 1960 and 1976. With artifacts, artworks, photographs, and documents, the exhibition will examine how the relationships among players, management, and fans were profoundly changed during this period. No to Family Violence
On Saturday, May 3rd, come to San Bernardino’s fifth annual Walk Away from Violence walk-a-thon. The event involves a six-mile walk beginning and ending at the parking lot of the San Bernardino County Courthouse at Arrowhead and 5th Streets in San Bernardino. There will also be a huge parking lot sale; all proceeds of the event go to Option House Inc. to help defray the costs of sheltering victims of family violence. The Brombies

The Claremont Forum Gallery needs submissions of original mail art to be displayed and sold for Postmarked 2008. The Mail Art Exhibit and Auction benefits the Prison Library Project, Claremont’s local service project which sends books to inmates throughout the country. Inmates request books in hand illustrated envelopes they create, inspiring the theme of the exhibit. Thirst Film Screening

Riverside Art
The Riverside Art Museum presents three exhibits inspired by urban street life including tagging, punk music, folk art, and hobos. The Big Sad, featuring Barry McGee and Clare Rojas, includes painted surf boards, graffiti, and hand painted banjos. Borrowed Voices
On Thursday, May 8th, incarcerated young men from juvenile detention camps will read poetry, short stories, and essays and perform a scene from Shakespeare's Othello at Pitzer College’s Avery Auditorium. Art Show Benefitting the Prison Library Project
The Claremont Forum Gallery is having an art show of contemporary art and sculpture by Gregory Liffick, featuring refreshed and resurrected old, found items.
